Is it desperate to use a matchmaker?

I’m often left justifying my job as matchmaker, Elegant Introductions and the whole ethos of matchmaking.
There is an assumption that my clients are in some way desperate and they need my matchmaking as their last chance of happiness. Not True!

Whilst I cannot divulge personal details I would love to lay to rest the idea that they are desperate, ugly or in some way past it.

Elegant members are mostly professionals, they are often in demanding jobs, they tend to have more disposable income but very little disposable time.

These are discerning people who value the flexibility and personal touch that I offer. The effectiveness and also the hassle free approach.

I have spent some time looking at the alternatives, is there a better way than elegant to find your match?

The alternatives in the North East:

Pubbing or clubbing; This is truly dire, I went out a few weeks ago, the pubbing and clubbing experience for over 30’s is an acquired taste. What could be more desperate than consuming dutch courage and socialising with barely dressed teens and tattooed skinheads in a venue carpeted in broken glass?

Speed dating; I am sorry but how desperate would you have to be to agree to meet people with whom all you have in common is a geographic location. On the up side at least you aren’t stuck there long.

Internet Dating; This is a difficult one for me as I do see the merits and I also offer elegant direct which is an online dating site. I am going to post some hints and tips to internet dating in a later article.

Blind dates; normally friends of friends an always a bad idea. I am a matchmaker by profession, I take it seriously. If you aren’t a hairdresser you wouldn’t botch a haircut so why everyone thinks they can match make is beyond me. It never ends prettily, enough said.

Small Ads; The lowest of the low, why would you? Does anyone ever look at them apart from to have a giggle at the abbreviations anagrams and corny lines?
