Why are Vampires so sexy?

Programmes like True Blood, Buffy, Angel and now films like Twilight and previously Interview about A Vampire have women drooling across the globe, aside from the gorgeous actors why are we grown women so in lust with these vampires?

I decided to write this article after a friend posted on face books that she was about to watch Twilight again the posts in reply confirmed what I already knew vampires are so sexy right now. Everyone from my Aunt through to my friend’s teenage daughter is happily daydreaming about these fanglicious bad boys.

I will have to admit the lead actors are beautiful and the effects are amazing, what I am suggesting is that it goes deeper than this and is appealing on a subconscious level. Bad boys, risk and danger have always been exciting and a definite turn on, I constantly see women who are not interested in the matches I have made because the man is too nice. “Too Nice” to a man is perhaps a put down which is relative to a woman being told she has a nice personality. So vampires are in there nature bad boys and we girls and women who should know better we all like a bad boy.

I think it is more than the bad boy theory, I think Vampires are sexy because they allow women of over 30 to fantasise legitimately over actors who are barely out of their teens. After all he may only look 19 but the character is actually 300, this makes what would be a taboo acceptable daydreaming material.

Women are fixated with youth, primarily their own. I interview women of all ages and I would say most nearly all will tell me they are young for their age, they like younger men, men their own age are too old. A growing number of women over 60 are telling me they are often chatted up by men of 45 to which I am always honest; the men who chat you up in pubs do so because they have a pulse; they are men. I love men but I am also more realistic than some women, men may chat you up for kicks, for sex for a one night stand, for something to do. Very few men are looking for women who are considerably older than themselves.


These women who are attractive, intelligent, beautiful and lovely need to also be realistic. Yes fantasise about younger men, enjoy male attention from younger men but you do need to acknowledge if you are looking for a serious , loving long term relationship chances are you will have more success in your own age group or shock horror perhaps slightly older.



I will leave this theory out there for you to comment back on, people will no doubt disagree with me, find me blunt or annoying but remember I am also interviewing men and asking what they are looking for in a partner. If you are looking for someone who isn’t looking for you, maybe you should rethink your search criteria.
